Small group counseling is an essential part of an MTSS comprehensive school counseling program. This elementary school counseling group bundle includes 10 ready-to-use small groups for Tier II intervention, all of which are ASCA and CASEL-aligned! Topics covered include anxiety, divorce, relational aggression, social skills, conflict resolution, separation anxiety, children of incarcerated parents, newcomer experience, academic skills, and emotional recognition and self-regulation.

All of the included counseling groups are 5-8 weeks long and designed to keep elementary students engaged. Each group includes easy-to-implement outlines with objectives, engaging activities, and self-assessment data-tracking tools so you can measure student progress!

Small Groups Included:

Here is what's included each week:

  • Outlines: Easy to implement outlines with ASCA and CASEL-aligned objectives
  • Group Rules: Suggested and DIY Group Rules poster so students can take ownership of the creation of the group rules and norms.

  • Self-Assessments: Pre and post-group self-assessments to track student growth and make data collection easy!
  • Engaging games and activities: I include everything you need to run each session. Simply print each week before the students arrive and you are ready to go.

Types of activities and games included each week:

  • Matching Games
  • Movement Based Games

  • Grounding Games

In my experience, small groups are the best way to connect with students. I love that they are able to learn from each other and build relationships as we cover each topic.

At a minimum, being in the counseling group allows students to identify and share their feelings, develop self-esteem through participation, and practice empathy while hearing others’ experiences.

With easy to implement outlines and activities, this group curriculum is very low-prep. Simply print out each session before students arrive and keep them in a file folder.

For tips on how to organize your small groups, check out this blog post I wrote. The self-assessments are a great way to get students to self-reflect on their progress and you can then share this information with teachers, parents, or in your program report.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Christy T. "The groups contained in this bundle are wonderful. They are rooted in evidence-based practice. The formats provide just enough instruction to know how to use the resources but also allow for quite a bit of flexibility with delivery. I substituted these curriculums with current groups I was facilitating to give these a try. I can say that I am pleased with all of them."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ K-12 Counseling "It's so helpful to have all of these groups available! They are easy to use and engaging for students"
